Zsh

From Support

Jump to: navigation, search

Zsh is a Unix Shell that you can use on spoon or matrix.

Zsh is one of the most comprehensive shells, providing many features from other popular shell such as bash and tcsh.

It is a bit of overkill, so unless you want the most advanced features and are very adventurous, it might be a better idea to stick to bash.

However, if you are feeling a bit masochistic and decide to change to zsh you'll find some of these features useful:

  • Programmable command line completion that can help the user type both options and arguments for most used commands, with out-of-the-box support for several hundred commands.
  • Sharing of command history among all running shells.
  • Spelling correction
  • Compatibility with other shells.
