Making Posts
Reminder: To quit out of the newsgroups now, press ‘q’ until you are out.
So, now you might want to make a post of your own. Press ‘q’ to bring you back to the newsgroups list:
To get a listing of all the newsgroups that you could post on, press ‘l’ (lowercase L) and you should see something like the list below:
To make a post on one of the groups, move to the newsgroup you want to post on using the up and down arrow keys. For the above guide, I made the ‘RTE news or TV3 news’ post by moving down to the intersocs.tv group like below, then I pressed ‘p’ and got prompted with the name of the newsgroup to make sure I wanted to post on it, I pressed the enter key to go ahead:
Then I was asked what I’d like to call my post, you can see below that I called it ‘RTE news or TV3 news’. Then I pressed enter to continue.
This opens the post editor, you can ignore the fields at the top ‘Newsgroups’, ‘From’ etc… They are filled in for you. You just fill in your post like I have done below:
Press ‘Ctrl + x’ to finish (i.e. hold the Ctrl key and then press x and then release both). You are asked if you want to post the message. Press ‘y’ to post the message!
That’s it, like the message says below ‘Posting…done’
To quit out of the newsgroups now, press ‘q’ until you are out. If you do, you should see something like below which just shows how the newsgroups started up:
