Accessing your Matrix Files
Access your matrix userspace from a Windows or Mac computer
by mapping a network drive
Mapping a Network Drive
You can map your netsoc file space from any PACR (Public Access Computer Room) in college. This will allow you to access the files on Matrix the same way you would access a local C: drive.
Enter your details into the following form and a batch file will be created for you. Save this somewhere handy as "netsoc.bat" and run it. Your space will then be available to you on your N: drive.
To do this manually, open a DOS window and run net use n: \\matrix.netsoc.tcd.ie\username where username is your Matrix username, or use this handy script.
Accessing from a Mac
Use the following instructions to connect to your Matrix user space from a Mac (currently works on a Beckett or Eastend Mac).
- Switch to the Finder (by clicking the smiling mac icon in the dock)
- Select "Connect to Server..." from the Go Menu (command-K)
- Enter "smb://matrix.netsoc" in the address box and click "Connect"
- When the dialog appears DO NOT click "Ok"
- Click "Authenticate"
- Enter your TCD.IE password (the same one you used to login to the mac)
- Click "Ok"
- Select your username (or any other shared folder) from the drop down menu.
- Click "Ok"
- Your Matrix folder will appear on the desktop.
